Sludge Recovery

The TPS was developed to treat impacted soils but cut its teeth internationally on the recovery of valuable hydrocarbons in the oilfield, crude oil transport, petrochemical and refining sectors.

The production of sludge is the inevitable by-product of a successful industrial economy. The sludge is comprised mostly of water, sediment and hydrocarbons that have contaminated the process or are generated during its production. This hydrocarbon, resident in the sludge in variable proportions, has real value. The TPS has worked successfully alone and in conjunction with some of the world’s most advanced physical and chemical technologies to recover for reuse everything from diesel to highly refined solvents and synthetic lubricants.

The valuable hydrocarbons are extracted along with the water and re-condensed into a liquid stream. This stream is then separated with the water being safely treated and hydrocarbons reclaimed with less than 2% Base Sediment and Water. While each form of sludge varies, every one has a certain value that can be reclaimed in many cases not only offsetting the cost of environmental responsibility, but with the rising cost of energy, generating profit from the sale of the reclaimed hydrocarbons.
